The same patterns keep repeating across organizations of different sizes, industries, and sophistication levels. Here’s my list of the mistakes I see most often.
Mistake 1: Starting With Technology Instead of Problems
“We need to implement AI” is a terrible starting point. Yet it’s where most conversations begin.
The question isn’t whether to implement AI. It’s which business problems you have that AI might solve, and whether AI is the best solution for those problems.

- Organizational resistance emerged when it became real
Pilots are cheap. Scaling is expensive. Organizations often approve pilots without budgeting for successful scaling.

Mistake 4: Ignoring Change Management
AI changes how people work. It eliminates some tasks, creates others, and shifts responsibilities. This is organizational change, not just technology deployment.

Mistake 7: Vendor Over-Dependence

These mistakes share a common pattern: treating AI as simpler than it is.

Organizations that recognize this complexity and plan accordingly succeed. Those that expect AI to be like other technology deployments struggle.
