Barton Deakin Government Relations, part of STW Group, is moving into a new phase with the appointment of David Alexander (former adviser to Treasurer Peter Costello) to the Canberra office.

He takes on the role of Managing Director (Federal) as Barton Deakin continues to grow and grow.

He joins Grahame Morris (former chief of staff to John Howard), Peter Collins (former NSW Liberal Leader, Treasurer and Health Minister), John Griffin (former chief of staff to Premier Jeff Kennett), Sallyanne Atkinson (former Lord Mayor of Brisbane) and Matt Hingerty (former chief of staff to Joe Hockey) and others on the Barton Deakin team.

David understands how governments, oppositions, departments and agencies work.

He has been a Senior Adviser (Political) and Senior Adviser (Media) for Peter Costello and has worked with former Tourism Minister in the Howard Government, Andrew Thomson, and a Parliamentary Secretary in the NSW Government of John Fahey.

David’s private sector experience includes a period as Economics Editor at the Canberra Times and as National Director Industry Policy at Master Builders Australia. He has degrees from the University of New England and the University of Sydney.

“The appointment of David marks an expansion of Canberra operations and reflects the growing interest of the business community in the expertise that Barton Deakin provides,” Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Barton Deakin, Matthew Hingerty said.

“Dave has already had a successful career in world of politics and his background complements the profile and experience of Grahame Morris.

“It’s a strong team. With Grahame as our Federal Director and David joining our team, plus the support of other experienced political operators around the country, our clients can be assured that they are being represented by the pre-eminent Coalition-aligned Government Relations firm as we count down to the next Federal election,” Mr Hingerty said.
